    Price gradations on SuperDOM

    Hi everyone

    1) The instrument in my SuperDOM is ^DJIA (the Dow cash).

The prices in the SuperDOM are given to 2 decimal places, as follows:

    17440.20
    17440.19
    17440.18
    17440.17
    17440.16
    17440.15
    17440.14
    17440.13
    17440.12
    17440.11

This is far too small a gradation.

It would far more helpful if they could show the current price, + or – whole numbers, e.g.

    17444.16
    17443.16
    17442.16
    17441.16
    17440.16
    17439.16
    17438.16
    17437.16
    17436.16

How can I achieve this please?

    2) Also, how can I delete the markings of the trades entered on the chart?

Any assistance will be much appreciated.

arbuthnot, that's due to the ticksize of the master instrument. The DOM was not really made for monitoring non futures. We would not officially support it, but you can look into adjusting that tick size in the instrument manager, for example to one point.

The plot executions can directly be set per chart from the DataSeries > Trades properties.

Thanks very much, Bertrand, that seems to do the job extremely well.

I always wondered why ^DJIA needed, for example, a 1000 Renko, whereas on other instruments, this would be a 10 Renko. Now I understand.

      Much obliged.

Bertrand, I have another question regarding the ^DJIA (the Dow cash) I have on the SuperDOM.

As you pointed out, this is not a future and things have to be handled differently. (By the way, the Dow cash is one of the main instruments offered by the spread betting companies here in the UK, who make their own markets.)

Given that ^DJIA is not considered a normal traded instrument in Ninja (and I'm working in Sim and there isn't an actual broker involved), how can I change what is effectively the commission or spread for this?

        Thanks for letting me know.

arbuthnot, if you have adjusted the ticksize then you have set the spread differently as well. You could see about changing the point value for the instrument, too so you could then in a next step set commissions perhaps for the simulator. So getting close a setup as for the YM futures.

Hi again Bertrand and thanks for your latest post.

As discussed, I had already gone into the Instrument Manager and adjusted the Ticksize.

            You say:

You could see about changing the point value for the instrument
            1) Could you be so kind as to explain what you mean by "changing the point value" (given the Ticksize has been changed)?

            You also say:

you could then in a next step set commissions perhaps for the simulator
Actually, I would just need to have the commission level set to 'zero' as, over here in the UK with spread-betting, all the cost of a trade is only and always in the spread. This applies equally to FXCM in London, with whom I hope to open an account very soon and start trading NT live.

So given that there's no actual broker in Sim, how can I go about:

            - setting the commission to zero, and

            - setting the spread I see in the SuperDOM to one of my choosing.

            Thanks in advance.

arbuthnot, you would unfortunately not be able to replicate this 100%. The pointvalue will define how much worth a full point move in your instrument is, it's defined in the instrument manager as well. So with ticksize gives you some freedom here to adjust.

For FXCM you want to check into their updates to commissions, I believe there were recently changes.
