NS files not imported in Backup

    Hi everyone

    I backed my NT7 on a 32-bit XP and 'restored' it on a 64-bit W7.

When I backed up ALL the boxes were checked but on restore, there was a message 'NinjaScript files not restored'.

    Is this right?

It's a shame if none of my scripts will appear on my new PC.

(I've backed them all up as text docs - everyone should do this! - but it'll still be a great deal of work as there are hundreds of them.)

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi arbuthnot,

The path to the references will be different on the new computer.

You will need to remove these and re-add them.

Below are a couple of videos that demonstrate how to remove them, and how to add them.

    Remove - http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/m...ileMissing.mp4

    Re-add - http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/m...yReference.mp4

      Thanks very much, Chelsea.

I'm in low IQ mode today as I've had so many hassles with my new PC, but those videos seem to referring to problems with compiling.

I'm attaching a screenshot of the 'references' box. Coudl you kindly tell me exactly what I need to do with these references.

      Thanks again.

        Hi arbuthnot,

If left out a part, I apologize for that.

You will need to pull out the indicator files manually from the back up.

Find the backup file that ends with .ntbk. (You may need to enable the extensions in Windows to see / change this)

        Change the extension to .zip.

Copy all files in bin/Custom to Documents\NinjaTrader 7\bin\Custom

Next, you will just add a reference for each .dll file that does not have x86 or x64 in the name.

If you'd like an assist, write in to platformsupport [at] ninjatrader [dot] com and add a link to this forum thread.

Thanks again, Chelsea, but that seems very complex - and there's lots of room for mistakes to creep in.

I may well take up that offer for an assist - much obliged - but, just for the moment, I'll see how I get on with cutting and pasting from my text backups of just my essential scripts.

I'll be in contact if I need to bring all of them over.
