Adding Seconds to Chart Axis (Format)?

    Hi,

I can't figure out how to add Seconds to the Hour:Minute format for the axis of a chart in seconds. The Properties does not show the format for Minute/Seconds. I need something like HH:MM:SS.

    Hello cjvernon,

The time stamps on the X-axis of the chart is determined by its compression. Please click and hold your left mouse button below the X-axis and move to the left. Eventually it will show seconds in the time stamp, however the chart will only show a few bars. Unfortunately it is not supported to configure the X-axis so it will always show seconds.

Yes, I see them in the Crosshair mode. Please consider adding this in the future.

Can you please clarify in what way. If the chart has many price bars and you would plot the time stamp of each price on the X-axis, it would not be readable.

Right now, on a "1 Second" Chrt I see "HH:SS" every 10-15 seconds, namely 4-6 identical values each minute. There is plenty of room to add ":SS" to the end of these 4-6 values each minute.

Thank you for clarifying. I will forward the suggestion to development.

Best is to let us control the format field for the axis labels, as is already permitted for Daily frequency, etc.

But if you always set it to HH:MM:SS and you compress the X-axis, it will not be readable or it does not make sense to show seconds. See screenshot for an example. I do not see the added value of adding seconds in these timestamps.

                  Jason,

You have a 1 Minute chart there and the axis is labelled by minute. Of course that is fine.
If you have a 1 second chart it's correspondingly different.

My "1 second" Chart shows 15 seconds instead of 60 over the intervals on yours.

I notice you connect to IB. I used Kinetick in my test.

IB does not provide historical tick data. Seconds data is build by historical tick data. You must have received the data in realtime in the CL 02-15 Second chart.

Please note that when you are connected to Interactive Brokers in NinjaTrader, you will receive snapshot data. Real-time data is updated every 250 milliseconds. This means it does not contain each and every tick. This is likely causing the difference. Kinetick does not provide snapshot data, it provides unfiltered data.

I have forwarded the suggestion to display seconds when you see multiple time stamps with the same HH:MM values. Always showing seconds in the time stamps would not work well.
