Last Bar's Date Conflict (Session template VS. Historical Data Manager)

    Last Bar's Date Conflict (Session template VS. Historical Data Manager)

    Using Historical Data Manager to import several instruments that trade in HK Stock Exchange. No import issue found. However, overnight or next day, a newly created chart shows the last bar's date (1/17/2015) is 1 day ahead of the last trading day (e.g. 1/16/2015).

    After changing Session template in Data Series to HKFE, the last bar's date is correctly reflected its trading date. However the latest bar (1/16/2015) is missing.

    So what shall I do to keep the trading date being correct while maintaining the latest bar in bay?

    What time zone is your PC clock set to?

    What time zone is selected when importing the data?

      I live in Toronto, Canada. Therefore I set my PC's time zone to Eastern Time (US & Canada), and trade multiples indices & stocks in US, Canada and Hong Kong.

      Before this reply, I tried the following tests.

      Test 1:

      1. Setting the clock to HK
      2. Open the same instrument and chart
      3. Set the Session template to HKFE

      Test 2:

      1. Setting the clock back to Eastern Time
      2. Open the same instrutment and chart
      3. Set the Session template to HKFE

      The results are the same that shows the trading date correctly.

      It seems the problem occurs in the morning (Eastern Time) only. Over the weekend, I'll prepare 2 - 3 additional instruments for next week's testing to see whether the above observation is correct or not.

      Any suggestion on the testing steps?

        Thank you for *your reply.

        The time stamp in NinjaTrader is for the end of the bar.*

        If the session template applied to a daily chart ends the next day, the time stamp wiill be of the next day's date.

        If you import the data using UTC +8 and set your PC clock*to UTC +8 (Hong Kong Time), do you experience the same?

          Over the weekend I had an opportunity to examine whether importing data fits my need, and found the following 2 issues:

          1. Reload All Historical Data washes out Imported Data;
          2. Setting my PC to Hong Kong Time is not an option I can maintain as I live in Toronto.

          For these reasons, I suspend further using mass Imported Data for testing.

            1) This would reload the data from your data provider

            2) If you adjust the time stamps of the imported data to US/Canada Eastern Time, do you experience the same?

                  I tried to recreate the testing case this morning. No luck. So I'll leave it as it's as I am not going to use imported data for a while.
