    Djia & dji

    Instrument Manger shows 2 DJIA & 1 DJI pre-installed.

When create Chart DJIA, NT7 shows DJIA Index. I've the following 3 questions:

    1. What's DJI?
    2. What are the other DJIA (stock) for?
    3. The Index DJIA chart shows date improperly as the second last bar shows non trading day 1/17/2018 that should be 1/19/2015, and the last bar should be 1/20/2015.

I locate in Toronto, my PC clock is US & Canada Eastern Time.

    Hello Mr. Lawrence,

    Thank you for your post.

When typing DJI or DJIA in the Data Series window or on the chart it will create a stock. To assign it properly as an index you need to type ^DJIA. The up carrot '^' signifies an index.

For the timestamp of the daily bar, are you connected to an EOD (End Of Day) data feed? Does the last bar list it's timestamp as the 20th?

DJIA's correct Yahoo symbol is ^DJI. Therefore stocks DJI & DJIA can be deleted as their symbols are DJI & DJIA.

Using ^DJIA to create a DJIA chart causes connection problem. Since DJIA works fine, no change requires.

For the timestamp of the daily bar, please see attached screenshots that show the timestamp of Yahoo's data feed is appropriate while the last bar's is one day ahead.

        Hello Mr. Lawrence,

        Thank you for your response.

Did you import data for the DJIA index but created that data as a stock?

I am not familiar with a stock on Yahoo Finance for DJIA, can you provide a link to this instrument?

No, I didn't import DJIA data. All three listed instruments are pre-installed. As I mentioned in my previous reply, I'm going to deleted the DJIA stock, it's not an issue now. And there is no Yahoo link for the DJIA stock instrument as well.

The remaining issue is the DJIA Index's timestamp that I described in my previous messages. The Yahoo symbol ^DJI is correct. http://finance.yahoo.com/q/hp?s=%5ED...torical+Prices is the link.

Yahoo is an End Of Day data feed. This means the data is not supplied intra-day. After the close of the day the data is provided. So the last bar on your chart, that is yesterday's bar.

Here is the NT7-15-01-22c.png chart again.

Today's date is Jan 22, 2015. The last bar's Data Box shows today's date instead of yesterday's date, which is Jan 21, 2015 that's on the data table, NT7-15-01-22b.png, in my previous reply.

The same issue occurred when I viewed Hong Kong Stocks. The proposed solution is to select different session template. It works.

              How's this one?

                Hello Mr. Lawrence,

The bar is showing the timestamp at the close of the bar. The bar closed at midnight on the 22nd - this is yesterday's bar.

So how to fix the date shown on the Data Box?

                    Hello Mr. Lawrence,

What time zone is your PC clock set to?

What session template is applied to the chart? You can check by right clicking on the chart and selecting Data Series. Then in the Data Series window checking the Session template setting.
