Cannot make chart from INDEXES

Hello,

I am having problems with charts from indexes. For example when i try DAX i get a white screen. Also the case with NDX and S&P.

The only thing that works is FDAX, the future. The other pre-defined symbols don't work either, all white screens.

Maybe I must import a new symbol list or something ?
Is there a page with symbol lists available somewhere ?

b) what's the exact (!) NT name of the index your trying?

The datafeed is from IB and the connection works fine.

I try to connect to the indexes that are already in the system, for example Nasdaq and S&P which are listed under the indexes.

For example: ^DAX:
Message:
Error in requesting historical data from IB: No security definition has been found for the request


^DAX and ^AEX are the symbols

- AEX: there is no predefined AEX index instrument available in NT. Likely the instrument mapping you provided for that instrument is incorrect. Please consult with IB support
- DAX: Please try Tools->Options->Data->Reset instruments

I resetted the instruments, no result.

I have the feeling only US Index symbols are accepted, could that be the case ?

I think that because if a change the instrument in a chart, i only need to fill in ER2 06-08 for example.

For the dutch index in Sierra I fill in: EOE-I-FTA
EOE for the index, I = Index, FTA is the exchange.

Is there a list somewhere with all the NT symbols of the world ? Or Europe ?
I only need US and Europe.

- does the DAX now work for you or no?
- what is the exact instrument name for AEX in IB TWS?
- what is the exact exchange code for AEX in IB TWS?
- you'll find a default list of instrument supported by NT at Tools->Instrument manager
- not sure what you mean by "Sierra"
- there is no limitation in NT on e.g. US symbols provided you have the mappings set correctly

Your fast replies keep surprising me, many thanks for that !

- The DAX does still not work, also not after the reset
Strange thing is that it is already in the package and I did not change anything. The DIJA (DowJones) index and S&P500 which were also already there, is working fine. The NDX (Nasdaq) however is also not working. Really strange and not consistent.


- Sierra refers to sierrachart.com, a competitor which I used until now.

- The instrument in TWS from IB is described as follows:

Contract description: AMS EOE Index
Underlying: EOE
Security: IND
Exchange: FTA
Currency: EUR

That's it.

Please try setting the IB mappings in Tools->Instrument manager
- for DAX: DAX|DTB
- for NDX: NDX|NASDAQ
- for AEX: accordingly

DTB is not in my exchanges list

tried nasdaq and AEX, did not work either. really strange.

Please apply the strings I provided below in the mappings (!) section on the instrument manager (Misc tab). Please review the docs to understand how the instrument manager works.

this is strange, it did not work initially, but now it does. I see US started trading now, is it possible there is a time limit set somewhere ?

also the NDX is working now. i am 100% sure it did not work around 12 and i did not change it.

i am confident this has to do with US trading hours. where can i change this ?

Hi,

Your chart will plot data for the session begin and end times specified in the chart properties menu. Please double click your chart and set your session begin and end times to 12:00 AM and 12:00 AM. You should now display all data.

the strange thing is that I got a refusal from the ^DAX and ^EOE this morning and that now it is accepted. I have changed the times now. Let's see what happens tomorrow morning.
