Conditional orders?

is it possible to submit a conditional order to interactive brokers from chart trader?

Hello joemiller,

NinjaTrader can send four order types: Market, Limit, Stop Market, and Stop Limit. These orders can be sent with an OCO (One Cancels Other) Ids so that if one is filled or cancelled any other order using that same Id will be cancelled.

Other than this, any conditions would have to be written into a NinjaScript Strategy. If there is a specific function of Interactive Brokers that allows for a conditional order, this will not be triggered from NinjaTrader.

the following procedure did not work for me in chart trader ---

-turned on the oco. [only the first two characters of the string ''oco'' appeared in green?]
-established a buy stop order.
-established a buy limit order.
-turned off the oco option.
-forced one of the orders to execute but the other order did not get cancelled?

I am not using an atm strategy like in the video.
I am using daily bars.

please advise.

Conditional Orders

How can u do conditional orders in NT whereby if one order is filled another order (stop loss) is executed.
Ive had a look at the ATM strategy but i dont want a fixed stop each time. i want to be able to change the stop distance for each individual trade but this will be known at the time of order placement.

Hello fiddy,

To have a stop loss automatically be submitted when the entry order fills, you have two options. You can use an Atm Strategy and change the number of ticks from entry the stop will be placed before placing the entry order. After the entry fills, you can modify the price of the stop.

You can also create a custom programmed NinjaScript strategy to both place the entry and place an exit stop or exit stop limit at the desired price when the order fills. This would require that the entry be placed by the script.
