    Uvol-dvol

Is there a symbol or a way to chart the NYSE up volume - the down volume? Similar to the ^ADD only using volume.

    thanks

    Hello morpheous455,
    Thanks for posting today.

There is not a volume index that shows the difference between the up volume and down volume.

However, there is a UVOL (up volume) and DVOL (down volume) index. You can then use a spread indicator show the difference between these two data series.

Please let us know if we may be of further assistance for anything NinjaTrader.

        Hello morpheous455,
        Thanks for the reply.

From an open chart add the UVOL and DVOL data series.

You will need to download a custom spread indicator. Here is a link to the online spread indicators. http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/f...=spread&desc=1

Once downloaded import the NinjaScript indicator.

To import this NinjaScript follow these steps.
        1. From the Control Center window select the menu File > Utilities > Import NinjaScript to open the Import NinjaScript dialog window
        2. Select the file you want to import
        3. Press the "Open" button
In the open chart right mouse click and select Indicators...
Select the spread indicator(the one you just downloaded) from the list
Apply the two data series to this list.

Now the indicator will plot the spread between the UVOL an DVOL instruments.

            Hello morpheous455,
            Thanks for the inquiry.

The indicator is giving you a data point (UVOL - DVOL) and not information for a data series.

You can change the plot to a bar plot but you will not be able to get a candle stick from the method mentioned in this thread.

is a spread indicator designed for that very purpose.

Thanks for the link to the Spread Indicator.

NT7 - Is there a way to turn off the chart for the UVOL & DVOL data series, and only display the Indicator?

I tried to change the panel for UVOL to be displayed in, but there is no "NONE" option.

I tried to reduce the height of the panel showing UVOL, but it has a minimum value so it never really hides it.

I tried combining both data sets and Indicator to display on the same panel, but the results are less than ideal.

my intention is to have a separate chart sized to the lower right corner of the screen, approx 200 pixels, so I only want the 1 indicator to be shown in that small chart window.

                thanks.

The hack / workaround I just applied is to set the data series candles color to transparent (including the wicks) and set the auto scale to FALSE.

now the tiny chart only shows the Indicator plot

seems hacky, so I'm still wondering if there is a better way?

                  thanks

                    Hello balltrader,

This would actually be the best method to accomplish this, since the bars must actually be on the chart for the indicator to function.
