I want a chart that will show the following. Is this possible with NT?

UVOL - DVOL = Total amount of up volume minus total amount of down volume for NYSE.

In thinkorswim you just put a minus between them and it populates a chart showing the end total in chart form. How can i accomplish this with NT?

Thank you for posting.

To see the UVOL and the DVOL instruments, Please follow the steps below:

* Go to the Control Center > Tools > Instrument Manager....
* In the 'Name:' field type 'UVOL'
* Click 'Search'
* Click to highlight the 'UVOL' instrument in the searched list
* Click the < (right above the 'OK') button to put the instrument in your default list
* The instrument will appear as '^UVOL'
* Follow the same steps above for the 'DVOL' instrument

If the searched instrument does not come up, you may need to be enabled. In that case, you will need to contact your brokerage.

If other questions come up which I could assist you with, please let me know.

Thanks for the reply but i think you misunderstand what im saying. I want the difference between NYSE UVOL and NYSE DVOL populated in chart form. So it would UVOL minus DVOL = ? populated on a chart.
So basically at a glance i can see if there is more up volume than down volume or vise versa. Is there a way to do this with NT?

You're right, I did misunderstand.

Please download and import the the attached indicator, which give the spread between the two indexes.

Please note that one cannot trade spreads in NinjaTrader, however many people have asked for the ability to plot them with candlesticks so this is why I have made this indicator.

Please note it will only work with Time-dependent charts, as time-independent charts such as range bars, volume bars, tick, etc. have no fixed time scale for comparison of two separate instruments.

Please follow the instructions below to import the indicator.

* Save attached file (please do not extract the files)
* Go to the Control Center > File > Utilities > Import NinjaScript...
* Import the indicator from the folder in which saved it to

Next, please follow the steps below to add the two indexes to a chart, and then you can use the 'SpreadCandlesticks' indicator, which will give the spread of the two indicators.

* Go to the Control Center > File > New > Chart...
* Once the Data Series window appears, add ^UVOL and ^DVOL
* Once the chart appears, right click in the background and select the 'Indicators...'
* Once the Indicators window appears, apply the 'SpreadCandlsticks'

The indicator will add another panel, which will give you the spread of the chart.

Please let me know if any of the instruction need to be cleared up, and I will be glad clarify.

Thanks, ill give it a look and see what i can do with it.
Im not trying to trade the spread but i trade the ES exclusively and i find that UVOL/DVOL along with ADV/DEC to be very good "internal" gauges of the overall market. Ive been keeping my ThinkorSwim platform open to do what im asking but i would rather use NT if it has the capabilities to do it.

Excellent. That did exactly what i wanted. Im sure this is asking too much but is there anyway to "hide" the two data series above the indicator window? I can minimize them to the top of the window but im losing a whole inch.. lol. Either way very happy.
