    Fix Gap Problem FXCM & NinjaTrader

    Hello Traders,

    I am trading with FXCM and in Indices with daily open and closing markets/instruments there is the problem, that gaps are not shown like they are. I am thinking, that the close price from yesterday evening/night is the open price for starting in drawing candlesticks.

    If I use the marketscope, then the problem is the same. If I switch there to the tick chart (its a line chart), then I can see the first tick of the day - and that is the real open. But not for the candlesticks.

    And so breakout boxes (only for example) are wrong: they are starting ever at the yesterdays close. And that is wrong.

    Has anyone here an work around for fixing this problem in NT7?

    Hello,

    Can you please tell me which index you are viewing, so that I can test further on my end?

    If you are looking at a spot forex quote, it would be expected that there would not be any gaps, since there is not an exchange to close and re-open the next day.

      I am using the German DAX. The name from the symbol is "GER30".

        Thank you. When I view the GER30 on my end with an FXCM connection, I'm not seeing the same issue, unfortunately. Can you please paste a screenshot of your entire chart, so that I can see exactly what you are seeing?

              Hello Dave,

              in this case I used a tripple part template (German times)
              Friday 08:00 untill 09:00 (Pre session EUREX)
              Friday 09:00 untill 17:30 (XETRA)
              Friday 17:30 untill 22:00 (After session EUREX)

              But I tried now the "Eurex Equity Index Futures" (original):
              exactly the same candles!

                Please try switching it to "Default 24/7" then right-click in your chart and click "Reload All Historical Data," and see if the issue persists after that.

                  here the same chart with default 24/7 session template. nearl the same. only the 23:00 clearing price additional.

                    That does seem odd. Since everything looks okay on my end, would it be okay with you if I logged on to your PC remotely and took a closer look? I'd like to compare your chart settings with mine, one by one, so we can figure out exactly what the difference is.

                        I thought I would share the solution that we found here on this thread, so that other users can benefit from it.

                        We found that changing the FXCM account connection to use NinjaTrader's servers for historical data was the key, rather than using FXCM's servers for historical data. After doing this, then reconnecting and reloading all historical data, the gaps are now displaying as expected.
