    Cannot Launch NinjaTrader After Restoring Backup File

    Hello, I recently created about 50 different ATM Strategies on my PC computer and I didn't want to recreate them all on my laptop, so I restored a Backup File for my PC install of NinjaTrader on my laptop, and now NinjaTrader will not launch on my laptop; all I get are error messages.

    I tried uninstalling and reinstalling NinjaTrader on my laptop several times and I even used a program called 'Revo Uninstaller' to make sure that the registry files and so on were removed during the uninstall, but I keep getting the same error messages and NinjaTrader just will not launch on my laptop computer.

    Please advise.

    I'm going to plead no clue on this before I ask:

    Which export options did you use?

    Did it include your account on your desktop?

    Does your laptop have any idea of your account on desktop? (it might be tied)??

      Thanks for your reply.

      For the export options, I left them all checked.

      Not sure what you mean by "did it include your account on your desktop". I just used the default export options for the backup.

      I do have a network set up here, but I am pretty sure that my laptop and my PC are not tied.

      Another thing I did also is, I copied the following files from my PC (Documents folders) to my laptop (documents folders):

      * templates * workspaces * bin > Custom > Import

      The files that I copied from the folders above are still all in my laptop installation, should I try deleting them all and then uninstall and reinstall?

      Is there a way to do a clean uninstall/reinstall?

        Okay, the installation of NinjaTrader is now working on my laptop and on my PC.

        I uninstalled it first on my laptop, then I deleted the folder NinjaTrader and all the subfolders inside it (templates, workspaces, etc.), then I reinstalled NinjaTrader and it launched with no problems.

          Hello i2w8am9ii2,

          Good to hear NinjaTrader is working again after the uninstall/reinstall.

          ATM strategies are saved in the database. You can transfer the ATM strategies as follows.

          Make a copy of the NinjaTrader(.sdf) file which you can find at Documents-->NinjaTrader 7-->db. This is the databasebase.

          Delete the existing database file on your laptop.

          Transfer the copy to your laptop at the exact same location.

          Start NinjaTrader on your laptop and you should have access to your ATM strategies. Please note that the database stored other data as well such as trade history.
