Global Crosshair , Tick and Volume charts, Multiplier .....

I was going through my charts today , and was wondering if there where certain ways to do the following via the platform / charts

    1. Is there a way to have the " Global CrossHair " as my default ?
This way, say I have 3 charts of ZS open ( a tick chart, a volume and a daily chart ) as well as 3 charts of NQ open ( a weekly, monthly and tick chart ) , and I want to look at certain price levels using the Global CrossHair, across these 3 different timeframes for the two forementioned Markets

    2. I know that by default , that the 1min, 5 min, 60 min, daily, weekly an dmonthly timeframes are in the drop down menu

How can I change / add to this drop down list ( and save this as my default ) , the following timeframes ....... a 1332 tick , 3996 tick, 10656 tick charts
as well as the following Volume charts ..... a 31,570 volume and a 50,000 volume charts ?

    3. I'm not to sure what a " Multiplier " does, when added to a chart ,
but I read that if you apply it to a chart.... that it will get rid of what ever Futures chart you are looking at ..... it will get rid of that Futures " Decimals " ?

    4. Is there a way to get my Charts to show many how many " TICKS " there is, from a high to a low point on my chart, when I am using the Fib. Extension tool ?

I am experimenting with a Spread scanner , and the scanner shows the Futures in Ticks ( instead of points ).

Just figured that by being able to see the number of Ticks from say my Entry to a potential Profit Target .... that this would simplify the Math

Thanks so much as always .
Really appreciate the great customer service

    Hello,
    Thank you for your post.
    1. If you save the default chart template with the Global Cross Hair enabled it will make it so any chart opened with the default chart template saved to open with the Global Cross Hair enabled. To save a Chart Template as Default you will right click on the chart> Template> Save As Default.
If you save your workspace with charts open with the Global Cross Hair enabled those charts will continue to have the Global Cross Hair enabled. To save a workspace go to File> Workspaces>Save Workspace.

    2. You can not add to the default interval list in NinjaTrader 7. This is added into NinjaTrader 8 and will be available when NinjaTrader 8 is released.

    3. Can you clarify what you are meaning by "multiplier?"

    4. Unfortunately this is not a feature of the Fobonacci Drawing tools. I have submitted a feature request to our development team for consideeration for this to be implemented in future versions of NinjaTrader.

      Hi CodyB

Thank you again for your time and for your quick and thorough reply.

      1. As far as what is mean by a Multiplier, I myself am not to sure either as to what it means either.
From what I can gather ..... I think it may have to due with how the Price is shown in the Right hand side of the Price Axis .......So using GC as an example ..... instead of it showing each price " Tick " increment as .... 1093.0 , 1093.1 , 1093.2 , 1093.3 , 1093.4 , etc.

I believe that it would show each move in actual Ticks ..... so it would just be .... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc. From the point of your entry ?

      2. I appreciate you submitting the request to have the option in Having the Fib extension tool , show the actual distance from the points at which you start and stop the tool ( from high to low and low to high .... show that distance in Ticks .
I think this would be a great feature

      3. I keep seeing a " Play " button in the upper right hand corner on all of the charts ..... is there a way to disable this ?
The reason I am asking Is ..... I was looking at a 60 min. chart on CL yesterday ( I have also attached a chart highlightening this question ) and I drug the chart to the left hand side, to leave the right hand side " Open " so that I can have a clear / blank background , and then draw and extend my Trendlines and Fib levels to the Right of where the actual Candlesticks and indicators on my chart are.

But after I did this, I then went and clicked on a totally different chart and as soon as I did so ..... it defaulted I guess to showing the 60 min. CL chart with the Last price /Indicators ... right up against the right hand side of the Price Axis

Is there an Expansion feature for the charts that I could change and set as my default ?

      4. I drew some trendlines on the 60 min. chart on CL as well , and then when I went to copy those same trendlines to my other opened CL charts ( I have a Daily and a 1332 and 3996 tick chart open on CL as well ) .
When I went to copy these same trendlines from the 60 min. chart to the other 3 charts , for some reason it wouldn't attach them .... Even though I selected ( Attatch to All CL charts )

      5. Wondering if there is a quick way to look at different Futures markets, across the same 5 timeframes , Without having to go in and change each of the 5 charts to that Future that I am wanting to see on all of these 5 charts ?

      For example:
If I have the Daily ,2 day ,3 day, weekly and monthly charts all open and have the YM on all Five of these charts, and then I next want to see ZC on all of these same Five charts, and then CT, and then NQ, etc.
Is there a way for me to be able to switch from Future after Future with one click , and have that future show up on all Five of these charts Automatically ?

      6.
I was on NinjaTrader trading platform today , and every time it seems that I have say 4 different website tabs open and the platform ..... that it buffers and slows down the speed at which I can toggle quickly between my charts .... as well as how quickly I can add Indicators , toggle between different Markets, different timeframes, etc..

Well I went to my Task manager .... and I am running at 84% capacity ( hence the buffering and slowness of my charts, etc. )

My question Is ..... should I add another 8 gigs of RAM to my computer ?

It is a laptop that I am using, but has available expansion for up to another 8 gigs of RAM .

Would I notice a huge difference if I did this , or do I need to do other things to my Laptop Instead of this , or do certain things, BUT ALSO add the 8 gigs ?

Thanks so much for all you've done in helping me and in answering my questions.
I feel like I'm learning to navigate the Platform, but still have a few things that stump ne every now and then , and I appreciate you helping me in answering them

      Thanks again - Michael

      SIDE NOTE:
I have attached 4 screenshots , with three of them ( showing my computers Performance, as well as the results from a speedtest I ran on it Last night )

          Hello,
There is not a feature that shows the tick increment instead of price. I am submitting a request for this to be considered for implementation for future versions of NinjaTrader.

The play button is a way to show if your chart is either ahead of the current time or if it is behind. When it is Black it indicates that it has been moved behind. If it is Clear it indicates its moved forward. Please see the following link on navigating a chart and How to change the horizontal scale and range of a chart http://ninjatrader.com/support/helpG...ng_a_chart.htm

On your other charts do you have it set to show global draw objects? To view this you will right click on chart> Data Series> Show Global Draw Objects> Set to True.

You can view the different markets without changing your existing charts by creating new charts. There is not a limit to the number of charts you can have running.

From the screenshots with your task manager I am seeing that your RAM usage is quite high for your computer which can cause the computer performance to decrease. At about 75% of RAM usage you will begin to see performance issues with your computer. You can resolve this by either decreasing the load of what you are doing with your computer or by increasing your RAM amount if possible.

I wam going to take my Laptop to a local computer shop over the weekend, and see what is making it run so slow and use nearly all of it's RAM capacity.

My only option may be , to just spend $100 and add 8 more gigs og RAM for now, until I buy a New Laptop this Black Friday

What minimum specs are recommended , when buying a computer for the sole purpose of Trading on it ?

I have heard that 16 gig of RAM is recommended
            A minimum of 3.3 GHZ
            Quad-Core

Just want to make sure that I know what to look for, so I don't run into this same issue after I purchase my next computer

Did have one more question under " Chart Properties " ...... where it says Display Update Interval , mine is showing 0.5 sec
So does this mean that every Half second , that all of my charts are automatically refreshing ?

And is there a way to change this, so that my charts Only automatically refresh every ..... 10 minutes ?
Hard o look at 3 different charts on the same Futures contract and do analysis , when every second the chart is moving around and refreshing on me

            Thanks again ,
always appreciate the NT community and the great service form the staff

              Hello,
The minimum requirements for NinajTrader 7 are:
Windows XP (SP3 Required), Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 2003 Operating System
              Minimum screen resolution of 1024 x 768
              Minimum P4 Processor or higher
              2GB RAM
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 (pre-installed on most PC's or can be downloaded below)

Our recommended requirements for NinjaTrader 8 (note these are pending and can change) are:
2 (GHz) or faster quad core 64-bit processor
              8 GB RAM
              DirectX10 compatible graphics card
              SSD Hard Drive

The display update(sec) chart property Sets the frequency the chart display is updated (A value of 200 ms or less (0.2) will be CPU intensive and can adversely affect performance especially in high volatile market activity.)

If you are wanting to set this value to update your chart display to update every 10 minutes you would enter in a value of 600 seconds.

Thanks for the recommended computer specs to handle NT8 when it is released.

I am in the process of having a local shop build for me a desktop , and wanted to make sure I had the recommended specs installed.

I hear a lot about the i7 processor ..... Is there a processor that is just as good, from the AMD brand ?

                Thanks again

                  Hello,
Unfortunately we would not be able to really make a recommendation on the performance of a processor and the comparison of it to an i7 processor. This question would be best for a general IT Specialist.
If we can be of any other assistance please let us know.
