Trying to import text file get "time stamp line 2 is smaller" error code

    Hi there,

I am trying to import a text file named "ES 09-15".

I get the error " "time stamp line 2 is smaller/equal than timestamp of previous line"

I have read the format for importing minute bars a few times, and I think my format is correct.

I looked at the text file and line 2 is newer than line 1 by one second:

    20150624 0:00:01;2117.5;2117.5;2117.5;2117.5;7
    20150624 0:00:02;2117.5;2117.5;2117.5;2117.5;5
    20150624 0:00:03;2117.5;2117.5;2117.5;2117.5;1

Looking forward to the useful assistance,

    Thank You,

    TMNT

I tried to attach the file but it won't let me as it is greater than 1 MB

    Hello teenagemutantNT,

    Thanks for your post.

The time format is incorrect. There cannot be any : between hour, minute, second
What type of data are you attempting to import? If it is minute data the time frames should increase per minute rather than per second. If it is tick data it would not have a OHLC, it would just be a single price.
See the link below on the format needed.

        Hello,

        Thanks for your reply.

Below is an example of how this would be formatted

        20150624 000100;2117.5;2117.5;2117.5;2117.5;7
        20150624 000200;2117.5;2117.5;2117.5;2117.5;5
        20150624 000300;2117.5;2117.5;2117.5;2117.5;1

The data I am trying to format comes with "seconds" data:

          20150624 000001;2117.5;2117.5;2117.5;2117.5;7

So I am not sure if it is minute data, but I do need to be able to view it on the chart on the 1min timeframe.

As you can see I have removed the :

          Any suggestions?

            Hello teenagemutantNT,

            Thanks for your reply.

This format would be second data and is not supported. NinjaTrader uses tick data to build second charts.

so you say there is not way I can import it into Ninja?

If I import it as tick data.....would I still be able to access the 1minute chart?

                Hello,

If tick data is imported NinjaTrader would be able to generate 1 minute bars from this data set. You would need to select the 'Generate Minute Data...' option when importing from your tick data set.

If generate minute bars from the tick data, how would I be able to tell the high/low of each candle if this is the format:

                    Tick Format
Each tick written on its own line and fields are separated by semicolon (.
                    The format is:
                    yyyyMMdd HHmmss;price;volume
                    Sample data:

                      Yes, that should be possible.

                        Hello Kyle,

I reformatted the data so its compatible with the specific TICK format:

                        20150624 00001;2117.5;7
                        20150624 00002;2117.5;5
                        20150624 00003;2117.5;1
                        20150624 00005;2117.5;2
                        20150624 00006;2117.5;2
                        20150624 00007;2117.5;35
                        20150624 00009;2117.5;3
then I selected 'Generate minute bars', now Ninja is still being stubborn and giving me this error code: " Format error in line one: specified argument was outside the range of valid values"

                        What does that mean?

Can you give me your email so I can send you the text file?

                        Thanks.
