    Can't delete Indicator from NT7

Trying to delete Indicator from NT7 & Will Not allow . States Indicator has errors.

Went to Edit Indicator, Delete. Nothing happens.

Can I just delete from Docs, NT7, Bin, Custom?

    Hello santafe,

Removing indicators directly from the Documents\NinjaTrader 7\bin\Custom\ folder can cause your installation to become corrupted and will prevent you from importing scripts (or compiling any code you have written).

If there are compile errors already this will prevent new scripts from being imported and prevent scripts from being able to be removed.

    To remove open source indicators:
    • Click Tools -> Edit NinjaScript -> Indicator...
    • Select the indicator to remove -> click the Delete button

To remove an open source strategy:
    • Click Tools -> Edit NinjaScript -> Strategy...
    • Select the strategy to remove -> click the Delete button

To remove a third party assembly package please:
    • Click File -> Utilities -> Remove NinjaScript Assembly...
    • Select the assembly to remove -> click the Remove button

Please follow the instructions below to see where the errors are coming from after compiling the indicator. This will allow you to debug the indicator/strategy or remove it from your PC. If you are wondering why you receive an error when compiling only one indicator, it is because NinjaTrader always compiles all indicators and strategies - not just one. This is done to give you the highest runtime performance possible.
    • Open NinjaTrader
    • From the Control Center select the Tools menu--> select the Edit NinjaScript menu item--> select Indicator
    • Select any indicator and double click on it (we need only to open and compile one script to see all compile errors for all files).
    • A new window will appear and you will need to right click in the window and select Compile to compile the indicators.
    • At the bottom of the window a new section will appear where you can find the error locations.
    • From there you have the option to comment out offending code sections, remove the complete indicator or debug it to be able to compile again.

If you are unsure as to what the error is indicating, please send me a screenshot of the error with the error column fully expanded so that I may read the entire error message.

To send a screenshot with Windows 7 or newer I would recommend using Window's Snipping Tool.

Alternatively to send a screenshot press Alt + PRINT SCREEN to take a screen shot of the selected window. Then go to Start--> Accessories--> Paint, and press CTRL + V to paste the image. Lastly, save as a jpeg file and send the file as an attachment.

Please let me know if you would like assistance resolving the error.

      Something else I'm missing

The problem that I'm running into is that the offending indicators aren't actually in my "EDIT INDICATOR" folder. They are somewhere, obviously, because when I go to compile I'm getting an error. I did delete the AlphaTraderUMA.cs from Document->Ninjatrader 7->Indicators, to no avail however.

        Hello jrichardson83,

The errors in your screenshot are telling you that you are missing a file that these indicators depend on.

Also, did you check to see if the indicator is an assembly? (See post #2 for instructions on removing an assembly)

          Hi Chelsea,

Yes, I did check to see if the indicators were an "assembly." When I tried to remove ninjascript assembly it returned the same message that I could not proceed until I fixed the other issues. Anyways, I just uninstalled NT7 and power cleaned all residual files and started from square one basically.

            Hi jrichardson83,

The errors were letting you know a file is missing. (This means it may have been manually deleted)

I can assist in removing any other scripts that are calling this missing file.

I understand you have removed your Documents\NinjaTrader 7\ folder and started over.

In the future, I can remove these files for you if you send an email to platformsupport [at] ninjatrader [dot] com.
