I'll be doing stock (Equities) trading. (only)

I'm now planning on using NinjaTrader with IB which is my broker

Which should I choose to provide subscriptions to market data , NT or IB ?

Any other advice on using NJ with IB ???

    Hello,

    Thank you for contacting us.

At this time NinjaTrader Brokerage supports futures and forex trading only. Interactive Brokers would allow for equity trading however.

The following link will take you to a page that details the steps required for creating a connection to Interactive Brokers and specific connection configuration information.

You must have standalone Traders Workstation (TWS) version 944.3 (browser version is not supported) installed

If anything else comes up which I could assist with please let me know.

......(edited out misunderstanding) I was going to purchase NT and a Kinetick subscription tonight and setup it up with my IB account to use instead of the TWS.

I wondered why the NT webinars never used equities only futures in all the demos.

thanks again for the prompt answer!

I've been asked by another forum to clarify this..
I understand by this reply .. I can not use NT to trade equities and I should use IB TWS which does do that instead of NT

          Hello,

I apologize for any confusion caused by my earlier responses.

To clarify - NinjaTrader Brokerage (a brokerage own and operated by NinjaTrader Group) supports futures and forex trading only. The NinjaTrader application can also be used to connect to an Interactive Brokers account where NinjaTrader can be used for futures, forex and equity trading.

I hope that this helps to clarify however if other questions come up which I could assist with please let me know.

oh, I missed the word NT "Brokerage" .. didn't know about NTB and that wasn't my original question.... let me restate it...

I'll be doing only stock (Equities) trading, I'll be using NinjaTrader with IB as my broker.
            question:
            1. Which should I choose to provide subscriptions to market data , NT or IB ? Is there an advantage to one or the other?

            2. Can NT read the market data from my IB subscription that I already have (US value bundle plus) ?

              Hello,

Thank you for getting back to me.

1.) You've wrote 'Which should I choose to provide subscriptions to market data , NJ or IB ? Is there an advantage to one or the other?' Can you clarify who NJ would be in this case? I had incorrectly assumed that you were referring to NinjaTrader Brokerage with this question earlier.

2.) NinjaTrader is able to access data provided by Interactive Brokers as part of the connection through Trader Workstation.

                  Hello ZenMusic,

                  Thanks for your reply.

If you are using Interactive Brokers as your broker you may use their data however it is aggregated and there is no historical tick based data.
If you would like unfiltered real time data and historical tick data you could connect to a provider who offers this such as Kinetick first for data and then IB second to trade to.

Below I have provided a link to the Understanding the data provided by your connectivity provider section of our help guide.
