Stop Placing New Orders but Do Not Flatten

    Hi
Apologies if this has been addressed, I couldn't find a solution..

I would like to terminate an automated strategy at a given time but only by not taking any new positions - I would like to allow the open positions to resolve as per the strategy in their own time.

    Is this possible?

    Many thanks
    DS

    Hello,

    Thank you for the question.

If what you are asking is to just prevent the strategy from trading during certain hours of the day, that is certainly possible.

In order to do this it would depend if you are using the Strategy Wizard or manually coding the strategy. Can you tell me which way you are using and I can provide more relevant help on this question?

I look forward to being of further assistance.

Thanks for the quick reply. I am testing an automated strategy built using the wizard.

At the time I wish to terminate it there are unrealized losses on several instruments.
I am looking for a way to say OK take no new positions (effectively close down the strategy),
but do not flatten the open positions, let them resolve according to the exit rules in the strategy.

Sorry if I am making this needlessly difficult.

        too dumb?

I'm guessing this was beneath an explanation - but to my shame I still can't figure it out..
        Anybody set me straight here?
        Thanks
        Dan

          Hello,

          Thank you for the reply.

This would certainly be possible using NinjaScript and manual coding but the wizard would actually not have the capacity to check multiple instruments at once in its logic.

In a standard strategy you would have the option of adding multiple instruments using script, by doing this you can submit orders on these instruments or track each instruments strategy PnL or position.

Unfortunately this would be outside of the scope of the wizard, if you would like to manually code the strategy I can point out some examples and resources to get started but you would need to manually code this item to achieve the outcome you are looking for.

I look forward to being of further assistance.

Any examples and resources would be gratefully received.

              Hello,

The forum is a great resource for samples, the links below should help.
Additionally the existing indicators and strategies that come with the platform serve as good examples on how to structure your scripts.

These are good sources for downloadable content.

For general C# syntax, sections 5 and on in this document are good resources.

I look forward to being of further assistance.
