A key point in the algorithmic trading environment is the data, even more the source of it. It's well known that NT keeps as valid LAST ticks all BID ticks variation from several brokers. This rule makes me wonder a couple of questions, cause my final objective as a algorithmic trader, is to have and work with the best professional data available in "my level", which is pretty far from investment banks, specialized brokers...etc.
Why are ONLY BID ticks taken as LAST ticks?
1. It's because in the industry is well known that this is the most efficient way to spot meaningful data?
2. Is that a rule of the whole industry or it varies by institutions ?
3. Will this trade registered as LAST trade or tick ? A bought made taken a partial size of a big ASK side available in the market?
Your answers would be a great help
