ATM Strategy enterying Stops and Targets as Price rather than offsets to Entry

In the mornings when I first start trading, the ATM applies the ticks that I have set for the Stops and Targets as actual prices and does not calculate the offset to the Entry price as it should. This will happen 1 or 2 times then it starts working normally with no action by myself. This causes the trade to exit immediately as the Stop is way below the current price. ie. - a stop of 40 will be way below the current price of the TF @ 1160.8.

I have exported the "Log" to a spreadsheet to highlight the problem but need some help on how to isolate this issue. Refer to the attached pictures.

This is really a strange problem.

    Any ideas?

    regards,

    Hello Taddypole,

We will need to review your log and trace files.

Please send these to platformsupport [at] ninjatrader [dot] com. In the email, please add a link to this forum thread.

      Hello Taddypole,

From what I have seen in the Log, the Parameter type is set to Price. This means the stop is being placed at a price of $40. The profit target is being placed at a price of $5.

This needs to be set to Ticks.
Right-click the SuperDOM -> select Properties.. -> set Parameter type to Ticks -> click OK
      Then save your workspace.

        Thank you Chelsea,

I think that might be it. Actually I found the "Price" setting in the properties of Chart Trader. I found one Chart Trader was set to Ticks and the other set to Price. Never would have thought to look there. It may explain the strange behavior. I will watch to see if this happens again, but I think this will fix it.

Next question is, could the value be set programmatically? I have quite a bit of custom code in my Chart Trader and would like to make sure this does not get improperly set to Price again.

        regards,

          Taddypole,

I am not aware of any way to set this programmatically.

But you can set the default for it and save your workspace. Then as long as you don't manually change this, it should be set for all windows in the future.

I had this problem again today. The problem is when I create a new chart the default setting for
"Chart Trader Properties/General/Parameter Type" is: Price. This means the targets and stops in my strategy are set to the instrument price and not "Ticks" of offset.

The problem is I have a difficult time remembering to check this setting each time I create a new chart. When I place the first trade of the day, Ninja Trader locks-up and I have to kill the process and restart Ninja Trader.

I need to solve this problem?

            Any ideas?

            regards,

              Hello Taddypole,

Have you set Parameter Type to Price as the Default setting?
(After setting this have you clicked the Set Default button?)

Didn't even notice that button. Just what I was looking for.
