    MACD Crossover

    Hello,

I've searched the forums in regards to my issue but I couldn't find a simple answer.

Maybe this task really is more complicated than I thought.

I'm using the NinjaScript Strategy Wizard.

    I have User Defined Inputs:
    FastEMA 5
    SlowEMA 10
    MinRSI 60
    MACDSig 9
    -------------------------------------
I want to enter long trade when EMA 5 crosses above EMA 10, and RSI is below 60, AND MACD signals bullish crossover....

How am I supposed to enter the MACD crossover in the conditions builder ?

Lastly, does Ninja offer live walk through support for these kind of issues ?

    Hi miktrading,

When you mention "MACD signals bullish crossover" I am not understanding what this means.

Are you looking for when the MACD default line crosses above the MACD Avg line?

Attached is a screenshot of how this would look.

Yes, NinjaTrader does provide remote support. You would need to write platformsupport [at] ninjatrader [dot] com and request a call.

      Thanks for your quick reply...

By MACD bullish crossover I would mean when the macd crosses the signal line, or when the fast line crosses the slow line.

I'm assuming the same signal explained differently would be when the histogram goes above zero.

      Thank you Chelsea

        Hi miktrading,

I still need clarification. The MACD has 3 plots, the MACD plot, the Avg plot, and the Diff histogram. You can see these when you look in the Plots area of the indicator if you add the indicator to a chart. But I not sure which plots you are talking about.

Which line is the signal line? Are you talking about the Zero line?

Are you asking when the MACD plot crosses above 0?

Which line is the fast line, which line is the slow line?
(The Avg plot is an average of the MACD plot. The diff is the difference between these two plots)

The histogram is the Diff plot. Attached is a screenshot of how to detect when the Diff crosses above 0.

Here's a snapshot of what I mean. In TOS the blue line crosses the yellow line. I have it circled yellow where the MACD indicator is.

Forgive me for not knowing the technical terms.

            Hello miktrading,

Right-click the chart -> select Indicators.

In the master list select the MACD indicator and click the New button

On the right look for the Plots section. This will tell you the color of the plots so that you can recognize them on the chart.

With the information that I have, I am not able to discern what you are asking for.
In your screenshot I have no way of knowing what the blue line is or what the yellow line is.

Once you are able to recognize the plots, please respond to my questions in post #4.
