    Installation error - DLL required

    Hi,

    I'm getting the following error when I try to install 7 or 8:
    There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

    I am running Windows 10 and have .NET framework 3.5 and 4.6 active on my Windows features list.

    Please advise.

    Hello,

    The windows installer may have an issue on your computer.

    Are you able to install any other msi files that are not NinjaTrader?

    As an example, below is a link to the msi installer for Notepad++.
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/notepadmsi/


    Try running a sfc \scannow.

      Yes, I get the same error when I try to run the Notepad msi.

        I figured it out. Here is the fix for anyone else having this problem:
        The solution is to go into c:\users\"username"\AppData\Local\ then right click on "temp" and choose "properies". Choose "security" --> edit --> add, and add the username you are using, and give yourself all rights.

          Hi,

          I have the exact same problem on Win 10 trying to install NT 8. I had NT 8 running for a while and this new version failed to install. The error message is:"There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."

          I have tried the steps outlined by golgi11 but it still does not work. Please help.

            May I verify that you are also unable to install all MSI files and not just the MSI file for NinjaTrader?

            May I confirm that you have performed a system file checker scan?

              I have figured out the problem with my PC; and may be also apply to other user's installation problem. The NT8 installation script need to access C:/Temp (in addition to c:\users\"username"\AppData\Local\ ). I found that there are folders in my C:/Temp cannot be accessed. After changing the security setting in C:/temp and all its subfolders, the installation completed successfully.
