Trying to change the download location when downloading data

    Hi there,

So there is not enough memory on my laptop hard drive, so I want to download the data to my external hard drive.

I am aware, by default, NT saves to MyDocuments.

How can I temporarily change the download location in NT? (so I can download to external hard drive?)

    Thank You,

    TMNT

    Hi TMNT,

To have NinjaTraders settings folder on the external drive, you have to change the location of the my documents folder to the external drive (then never unplug it or you will get errors in Windows).

Below is a public link to a Microsoft site with instructions to do this.

Not sure what you have stored, but you can move anything not related to your NT7/8 folders off to another place....

I have successfully moved My Documents to a hardware Raid 0 on 1 machine with the explanation posted from ChelseaB, and I have also successfully mapped via a software link (I think called a junction to MS) my replay data...

Not if you want them to run with NinjaTrader, you cannot.

However, you can always create a partition on said external drive; move all the content and structure of your NT data directory to that partition; then mount that partition in the now empty NT data directory.
