    Cannot Place Chart Trader Entries

    Hello,

    We are using NinjaTrader 7 (Lifetime License) and Chart Trader to try to place simulated trades at this time. TDAmeriTrade is our datafeed.

    When I right-click to try to place a buy-stop order, the buy-stop option is not there and neither are any of the other order placement options.

    Is there something else that I need to do to configure Chart Trader to work for me?

      Hi Kyle,

      Thanks for your reply. We are using the symbol LUV. We are trading stocks off of the Daily chart, so I don't think the prices will be moving much, if at all on a Sunday.

      The BAC and AAPL symbols do allow us to right-click and place a Buy-Stop.

      Any suggestions for the LUV symbol?

        Real-time data will need to be available in order to place an order in the Sim101 account.

              Not sure, we have not been looking at our Daily charts during the market trading hours yet.

              But I do know that we subscribed to real-time data from TD AmeriTrade.

                Hello,

                When the market is open again I'd recommend that you check the daily chart for updates to last price. Provided that you are seeing updates to last price the order options which you'll find in the right click menu should be available.

                  Okay, will try to check the daily chart for updates to the last price. In the meanwhile...

                  Tonight we tried to place live Buy-Stop Orders (using the right-click menu) for the stocks XOM and VIAB but we could not do so for either of them.

                  We were able to place Buy-Stop Orders for HP and TROW. Why only some but not others?

                  If we are not able to enter trades in stocks at the opportune times, that can cause us missed opportunities and potential lost profits. Timing is everything in the markets.

                  If you can think of any other way to resolve this issue, anything we can do, please let us know.

                    Had you received an error when attempting to submit the orders, and if so, what did the error report?

                    Are you able to trades these equities outside of NinjaTrader?

                      Hi Eric,

                      No, we did not receive any error when attempting to submit the orders; the Buy-Stop and Sell-Stop options are just not there when right-clicking on a chart when using Chart Trader.

                      And no, we have not attempted to trade these equities outside of NinjaTrader. We thought that NinjaTrader (Lifetime License) would be the only platform that we would need.

                        What exactly is the time for "tonight" ?

                        in normal EST (eastern standard time)?

                          What instrument had you tried to trade last night, and what time zone are you in?

                          I suggest contacting TD, or attempting to submit trades outside of NinjaTrader -- it may be your account is not authorized to trade via NinjaTrader, or may not be enabled to trade these markets. Without having submitted any other orders, there's not a way to tell if the issue is isolated to NinjaTrader, or your account in general.
