    Market Analyzer custom date range

    Hello & good day all.
Is it possible to use the Market Analyzer for a specific date range?
Based on the kinetick metrics of S&P 500 Adv/Dec Issues, there are days that are extremely unbalanced. A few examples are listed below.

    6/29 495 DOWN
    7/8 479 DOWN
    8/20 480 DOWN
    8/21 498 DOWN
    8/24 498 DOWN

I want to answer the question "what S&P stocks went UP on these days?"
I'm very interested to see which stocks were capable of holding up to this degree of pressure. Seems to me these are quite likely strong stocks. I know I can sort these out with the Market Analyzer using 1 day ROC on S&P 500 stocks but I'd prefer not to have to do this daily or even all days that are well out of balance. Plus hindsight is always 20/20, so it'd be valuable info to me to look back at specific days and see how those stocks have performed since.

If many or all of the advancing issues are in the same sector, then I'd probably consider that a leading sector and I can use that. Again, please realize that we're not talking about some $0.13 bio-tech stock that is irrelevant to the market. These are all S&P components.

It is more or less equally frequent that the market is out of balance on the positive side as well. Which means, there are some stocks so weak that they can't rise even when everyone else does. The truly weakest/strongest are a great place for me to start looking for option selling/buying opportunities.

So, can the Market Analyzer be set to look at a specific date range or not?

I thank you in advance for your help concerning this matter, JM

    Hello johnnymustard,

    Thank you for your post.

The Market Analyzer can be used from the current date back. However, a specific time range historically could not be used. You can look back a number of days or periods using an indicator in the Market Analyzer. And what you are looking for over these dates or within certain date ranges can be set up in a custom indicator.

You can create custom indicators using NinjaTrader's programming language NinjaScript. If you would like to take on learning NinjaScript, we have a fully documented help guide which will help you get started with Ninja Script. You will find language references to all of the methods and functions you will be using. You will also see a tutorial section which will help you create your first indicator and get you started with some of these concepts.
A link to our Help Guide can be found below: http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/h...stribution.htm

I am also linking you to the Educational Resources section of the Help Guide to help you get started with NinjaScript: http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/h..._resources.htm

You will find Reference Samples online as well as some Tips and Tricks for both indicators and strategies:

Click here to see our NinjaScript Tips: http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/f...ead.php?t=3229

These samples can be downloaded, installed and modified from NinjaTrader and hopefully serve as a good base for your custom works.

There is a also a growing library of user submitted custom indicators (100+) that can be downloaded from our support form. Please look in the NinjaScript File Sharing section of our support forum as you may find what you are looking for there: http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/f...splay.php?f=37

Please let me know if you have any questions.
