Direct Routing Order for IB

How can i ensure that the orders sent from Ninjatrader to Interactive brokers are direct routed to exchange rather than smart orders

i have discussed this with IB i they said that this needs to come from NT. they said they have this functionality

Thanks for your post.
you would need to add the desired instruments to your instrument list with the exchange selected, rather than default, to have the order route to the exchange rather than SMART routing. You would need to select the instrument from your list to also in your order entry window.
So for example go to Tools> Instrument Manager
Select the AAPL and under Exchange select the Nasdaq
Press the < button to add to your default instrument list
Now in your charts or SuperDOM for example you can select AAPL under the Instrument drop down menu.

Couple of clarifying questions

1.Do i need to untick default also or can this remain ticked?

2. I do not follow about the instrument list? do i need to create one?
Generally i will check to see if the exchange is ticked (i already do this) then go to an existing chart i have already have open on my workspace and type in the ticker and trade from the charttrader? will this process not work for direct orders?

3.How does this work with orders generated by Ninja strategy ?

Thanks for your reply.
1) No, it must be checked
2) No, you do not need to create one. The previous steps will add it to your Default Instrument list so you can select it in the Instrument drop down menu. You will need to select the instrument from the Default Instrument List/Instrument drop down menu for it to work.
3) You will need to apply it to the instrument from the Default Instrument List for it to work.

Brandon - by default instrument list , are you refering to the list on the left hand side of the picture attached the list starting 6E ##-##

or are you refering to the general list of instruments such as the one in the picture starting with 1AL_ASX.

If you are referring to the first option, adding the exchange to the instrument doesnt seem to be automatically adding these instruments to the default list that you have descibed in your answer 2 below

I am referring to the list on the left. In this window the exchange will not be listed on the left. If you have followed the previous steps then it should have been completed successfully.

Hi Brandon,i currently have kinetick setup as first connection (for data) and IB second connection (for trading)

when i follow your instructions above i no longer get data coming thru and also it seems to be causing issues with chart trading etc. Is this a known issue? can you advise what could be causing this?

Hello, a question.

If I want to send an order only by DARKPOOL in IB, included in the Script code of a strategy. Is it the same? I must pre-select it before in the instrument to trade right?

Or should I include some special code in the script?

Hello,

You may want to consult IB on the order routing of your orders. NinjaTrader will only send orders to the specified account in the strategy. Any further order routing would take place within IB settings.
