    Global Chart Object Backup

I think that Ninjatrader 7 does not include the folder "NinjaTrader 7\templates\GlobalChartObject" in the *.ntbk backup file.
    Could be this posible?
Is it possible to fix this? or Hav I to copy the folder manually?

    Thankyou.

      Thanks Brandon,

You are right, I just discovered that the .ntbk file is just a renamed *.zip file so one can see its content and the GlobalChartObject folder is there.
But when I restore the *ntbk file with File>Utilities>Restore in the destination computer, the Global objects drawn in the chart of my source computer disapear.

      What's wrong?

        Hello grankus,
        Thanks for your reply.
        It works on my end.
Try restoring once again, exit NinjaTrader without saving your workspace, reopen NinjaTrader, and test.

          Hello Brandon,

I did all the steps you say (I never save after a restore and I always reopen NT), but the problem remains.

It seems that the file FDAX 03-16.xml in the GlobalChartObject folder of the backup file "*.ntbk" doesn't overwrite my FDAX 03-16.xml file of the destination folder for some reason.

I realised that the date of my destination FDAX 03-16.xml file is older than the one of the backup/source "GlobalChartObject" folder and it's size it's diferent either. So they are diferent files because the restore tool of NT doesn't copy and overwrite this file.

I thing it's a bug, but I don't know what is the cause.

I use NT7 7.0.1000.30 on both computers and Windows 8.1 on one and Windows 10 on the other.

Ok I know where the problem is.

The Backup/Restore routine seems to be ok. I checked the "FDAX 03-16.xml" file when the Restore finishes (Without closing NT) and the file is exactly the same (same size, same date, etc…) BUT! When I close NT7 WITHOUT saving ("Do you want to save workspace "WorkspaceName"? No to All") The file changes again to the older version. So NT7 (Destination) always overwites the file FDAX 03-16.xml in GlobalChartObject folder with an older version. That's why the global objects (All charts) desapear from the source NT to the destination NT.

So it has to be a bug.

The only way I found is copying the "FDAX 03-16.xml" file manually, but this is annoying.
I know that I can do a backup with external tools (which is probably what Ill do), but the NT restore tool it should work ok.

                Hello grankus,
                Thanks for your reply.
I see that this happens if you have a workspace open that has global drawing objects applied to it.
I will submit this to development to look into.
At this time I would recommend that you open a new blank workspace, close all other workspaces, and then restore to prevent this.
