Two strategies in the same asset

    Hello,

When I put two strategies in the same asset, ninjatrader mixes the names and/or de sl/tp.

I suppose/think/guess that is because the function that open the operation has the same name and/or because both strategies open with a limit order and/or the variable with the name of the operation is the same.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you and greetings!

    Hello Barrenas,

    Thank you for your note.

This is expected as the database will treat each order as it's own and not an exit or entry directly. If you want to view the strategy performance based on it's entries and exits alone please right click on the strategy on the Strategies tab and select Strategy Performance > Real-Time.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

The problem happens real time, with the platform working. One strategy enters an order and takes the sl of the other preexistent order or close the previous one and enter another order in the same direction... The strategies work fine on their own, but if I mix them, a lot of disasters happen.

It happened again, and I am seeing that it always happen in the candle where the first strategy SL is (or should be).

In this candle, sometimes the strategy executes an SL for an order that sometimes it doesn't even exist and the other strategy enters (even it shouldn't) in the opoisite direction.

          What does this mean, exactly?

Are you adding 2 strategies to the same chart window?

Well, aren't you causing yourself confusion unnecessarily?

Why not create 2 chart windows, load same instrument into each,
and start just one strategy in each window?

I presume, yes, it can be done. I mean, NinjaTrader does not stop you from doing it.

                But, I never do it.

I don't want to confuse myself unnecessarily.

                  Regarding my "confusion" remark ...

The other thing to consider, how is your strategy naming the entry and exit signals for your trades?

I mean, something simple like "long1" or "short2" means that both strategies might be using the same names for their trades, even if the entry prices are different. Is that your case?

Anyways, this is one reason I have one strategy per chart window.

                    Hello!

The names aren't the same, but I'm gonna try your solution.

                    Thank you so much!
