    Pivot Point calculation error

Pivot Points seem to be calculated wrong on Version 7, but only on certain products and timeframes.

    An example is QM 03-16.
On a 15min timeframe the Pivot is calculated today at 28.925 which is correct.
if you switch to a 5min timeframe the pivot changes to 29.867, which is way off.

    Another example, ES 03-16
On a 1min chart, pivot is 1836.58 which is wrong.
On every other timeframe, pivot is 1843.92

I've already submitted a bug on pivots in NT8.

What provider are you using with NinjaTrader 7?

Can you share the exact input settings you're using for the pivot indicator so we can make sure we get the same output on our end?

Thanks that is helpful, I am looking into at the moment. For sake of clarity, since you're using CalcFromIntradayData, can you please also tell me exactly which session template you're using on these charts?

Sorry, not sure what you mean by session template. The chart template is just the default.

The charts "Start" and "End" times are dependent on the charts "Session Template", which will change how your pivot indicator determines what the prior days Open and Close will be to give you the pivot calculation.

You can find this setting by right clicking on the chart and selecting "Data Series"-> then scroll down to the "Session Template" option.

If it says Use Instrument Settings, then it should just be using defaults, unless you remember changing this at any point from Tools-> Instrument Manager.

                  Hello mauigeek,

                  Thank you for your response.

I am unable to reproduce this on my end with your settings and charts. Can you shut down NinjaTrader > go to Documents\NinjaTrader 7\db > then delete the cache folder in the db folder?

Restart NinjaTrader if you do the above and test again. I suspect incorrect information being held in the cache.

                    Yeah that worked.

I did also notice that the pivots are calculated differently than CQG QTrader and Integrated Client. Usually different by a few ticks for the same products.

                      Hello mauigeek,

The thread at the following link should explain how we calculate the Pivots: http://ninjatrader.com/support/forum...ead.php?t=4676

                        weekly pivots

there is a problem with the pivot indicator in NT8 for weekly pivots. Loading a 60 minute ETH chart, not able the get the correct weekly pivots based on all hours (futures), whether using daily bars or intraday. It seems to not recognize the input properly.

                          Hello crosscreek,

                          Thank you for your post.

What are you comparing the Pivots to?
When you switch between intraday and daily bars as the calculation method, do the values change for the Pivot levels?

Can you attach a screenshot of your chart using intraday and another using daily as well as what you are comparing the values against?

This is a problem with NT8. With NT7, I can have an all hours hourly chart for ex and add weekly pivots and readings are correct. If I do the same with NT8, numbers are not correct.

Ex. this week (starting 7/31/16 and ending 8/5/16) WP for ES was 2164.25 (an obvious level since it was to the tick resistance on Thursday 8/4/16). Cannot get the same number with NT8 weekly pivots. There is a bug.

                              Hello crosscreek,

                              Thanks for your post.

It appears that the NT8 weekly pivots made from intraday data match NT7 precisely.

It appears that NT8 weekly pivots made from daily data do not match NT7, nor do they match NT8 intraday weekly pivots.

We will investigate and update this thread when we have further information.

                              Thanks for reporting this.
