Import Historical Data and Load It into Charts

Hi, I am brand new to ninjatrader and I am on the demo account.

I have historical data for the S&P and tried to import the data into Ninjatrader.

I have no problem importing it but when I tried to load it New>Chart>Data Series. I do not see the data imported and the chart is just blank.

I already tried connecting/disconnecting to external data feed and used instrument managers for stimulated data feed connection.

Please advise on what to do next.

    Thanks!

    Hello kunwaichun,
    Thanks for your post.
What is the name of the file you imported?
What symbol and expiry are you using to try and access the data?
Additionally, you may want to consider signing up for a demo to get real-time and historical data: http://ninjatrader.com/FreeLiveData

Thanks for your reply Brandon. I already signed up for a demo to get real-time and historical data.

It is an excel file named SPXUSD.CSV

I am trying to create a new symbol named SPXUSD and view 1 minute bars + daily bars in charts.

          I have the same error.
I tried to load csv and I do not see the data imported.
I think this is a common mistake. Could you fix it?

                  Hello pravin.pmg,

                  Welcome to the NinjaTrader forums!

The historical data text file must have a specific filename format and specific format for the contents.

Below is a link to the help guide.

For example for the file name I could use
                  ES 06-20.Last.txt

For the contents I could have:
                  20200531 211500;1377.25;1377.25;1377.25;1377.25;86

What is the name of the file you imported?
What symbol and expiry are you using to try and access the data?

                      Hello pravin.pmg,

Futures have expiry contract months that expire on specific dates. The expiry contract month must be correct for the dates of the data.

With Nifty 06-20.Last.txt, the expiry contract month would be 06-20 (a.k.a. June).
Is this also what is being loaded on the chart?

May I test uploading the file on my end?

Please attach the file with your next post.

                        pls find attached file.
understood expiry point. i mean, is there any specific setting to be done for expiry?
otherwise, data is inline with expiry. attached is just sample file created for checking purpose.

The 'setting' is the naming of the file.
