    Hi Tradexxx,

This message generally appears if you are attempting to restore to a different computer, if you have changed the operating system, or if you have changed the username

The path to the 3rd party assembly files is no longer a valid path. These will need to be restored manually.

    To do this:
    • Make a copy of the backup file to keep the original backup safe
    • Next rename the extension of the backup file to .zip
    • For example if there was a backup made today the file name would be 2016-04-04.ntbk. Rename this to 2016-04-04.zip
    • Next, open the .zip file and copy everything from the bin/Custom folder to:
      (My) Documents\NinjaTrader 7\bin\Custom
    • After this compile any script in NinjaTrader

    To compile a script:
    • Open NinjaTrader
    • From the Control Center select the Tools menu--> select the Edit NinjaScript menu item--> select Indicator
    • Select any indicator and double click on it (we need only to open and compile one script to see all compile errors for all files)
    • A new window will appear and you will need to right click in the window and select Compile to compile the indicators

This will generate errors for files that need references added.
To clear these error messages you will need to add the references to these files.
    • Right click in the code section of the NinjaScript editor.
    • In the context menu click on ‘References’.
    • In the Reference dialog, Click on the ‘Add’ button.
    • Select all the missing DLL’s one by one and then click ‘Ok’. (located in the Documents\NinjaTrader 7\bin\Custom\ folder or in the NinjaTrader installation folder, typically C:\Program Files (x86)\NinjaTrader 7\bin64)
    • For items that have 3 versions of the file (two of which will have x86 or x64 in the filename) select the 3rd version of the file that does not say x86 or x64 in the file name.
    • Compile the indicator now by pressing F5.
    • The issues should now be resolved and NinjaTrader should be again in properly compiled state

Please also see the section “How to add a reference” from our help guide

If you run into any issues fixing the issue with the steps provided, please let me know and we can schedule a remote support call for further assistance.

        Unable to restore

        Hi,

I had data for 2013 and 2014. The file name is 2014-05-23.ntbk. When I try to restore it, Ninjatrader starts to unpack the file, but in the end I get a message stating "Unable to restore file

          Hello sandeshrai,

This may indicate the backup file has become corrupted on your hard drive.

Please send this to platformsupport [at] ninjatrader [dot] com, and I would be happy to take a look at the file to see if anything can be recovered.
