Freeze during optimization.

Many times when I run the optimizer, Ninjatrader freezes up and goes into "Not Responding" mode. A lot of times I am not even asking it to optimize very many parameters. This happens even when the time window is set to something small like 1 month. While frozen, memory usage shoots up to ~6 GB.

Every time this happens I have to restart Ninjatrader.

I've used it only once.

How many runs are you doing before this happens?

Does restarting NT before each run help any?

It seems to keep becoming more susceptible to crashing the more runs I do, even after restarting the program.

If it helps any, I just crunched the numbers for one instance of the optimizer crashing, and it came out to 1,716 possible combinations of values that it had to test for. I don't know, this might be on the high side of what the optimizer is capable of, but I didn't think it was.

Here is a list of things that can cause the Strategy Optimizer to run slowly

• It is possible for the Strategy Optimizer to download data from the internet. To prevent this, either
  • Uncheck NinjaTrader Control Center -> Tools -> Options -> Data -> Get Data From Server (if available)
  • Disconnect from your data provider
• Charts, especially with strategies or indicators running, especially with CalculateOnBarClose set to "false" or a lot of logging and printing
• Debugging can slow down Ninja. To turn this off, right-click in a NinjaScript Editor window and uncheck "Debugging".
• Ensure only one workspace is running at a time.
