    Newbie - IB keeps restarting

    Hi all,

    I am considering to buy NT, at the moment using the free version.
    My broker firm is Interactive Broker.

    I went through all the docs for setting up the connection with TWS. I'm using version 884. Settings are correct and yes, to start.... NT will indeed fire up TWS. It correctly enters username/password (and I manually enter the extra security code from the keycard that IB recently introduced).

    So TWS does start up... and it IS accepting external connections. See the settings in the screendump attached to the msg.

    However, I see the status line within NT as "connecting"... and after a while NT reports back that it has failed connecting... Furthermore NT tries to restart TWS time and time again, even though TWS is already open (correctly logged in)...

    What could be going on, any hints? I'd really like to check out the NT features!

    Please try starting TWS manually first and then connect NT to TWS.

      Thanks for the suggestion.

      Tried it, but no luck: the TWS login screen keeps popping up (together with the security code, entered manually) for establishing a new TWS instance. So it does not recognize the already running instance of TWS.

      Then, after the login screen :
      1) hitting "cancel" leaves NT "connecting" to TWS, in the end error msg "Connection failed"
      OR
      2) when setting up that new TWS connection (old TWS instance is dropped) no connection either.

      Do you have any other suggestions?

      PS: could it have to do with using a "simulated NT" trying to connect to a live IB-account?

        - please make sure you installed TWS from the link here: http://www.ninjatrader.com/webnew/su...ivebrokers.htm
        - please double check that you are on latest 6.5.1000.4

          To be 100% sure I installed the TWS version from the link.
          Furthermore, NT is indeed on latest version 6.5.1000.4.

          Still no luck, NT keeps on trying to startup TWS, so the login screens keep popping up. NT remains in "connecting" mode, finally "failed to connect". See the NT-screendump with activity log.
