Computer Spec to run default Optimization

    Hi

What computer specs does NT recommend to run optimization in default mode.
I tried running this on my laptop and left it running for 2 days and it wasn't even half way through, my laptop sounded like it was going to catch fire and explode and never wanted me to run NT on it again!

Running Genetic is quicker but the settings for this are baffling and having read through what each one means i'm still unsure what to set these too and I have run the same parameters on different computers and get different results which isn't reassuring me.

Do any of these functions work or am I just wasting my time.

    Thanks

    Hello,

    Thanks for your note.

Unfortunately, we can not make any recommendations to your trading method- including what hardware you should use. However, I can say that NinjaTrader 7 is a single-core application. This means that it can only use one of your PC's multiple cores. However, NinjaTrader 8 is a multi-core application, which means it can access more of your PC's cores.

Please see the following links, which are the minimum PC requirements for NinjaTrader 7 and 8. Please note that this is the minimum specifications required for NinjaTrader to function at all on your PC. Any workspace that would be built would require additional resources.

    NinjaTrader 8: https://ninjatrader.com/support/help...quirements.htm

I have provided a link below to our Help Guide that goes over performance tips.

      I am using NT7 not 8 though.
If I was to setup 8 and test are you saying it would work quicker and performance wouldn't be an issue?
are people using NT8 as it's still in beta, I'm a bit reluctant to test in something that is still in development.

        Hello,

        Thanks for your reply.

NinjaTrader 8 can access more if your PC's available cores, which could boost performance in the general functionality of the platform.

Correct, NinjaTrader 8 is in Beta, which means its primary purpose at this time is testing of the platform.
