IB FX Symbol

New to getting FX data from IB.

I went to the Instrument Manger and added USDJPY to my default instrument list. Then went and added a new chart for $USDJPY - no data. Looked at the Orders Tab and no bid/ask quotes. Went back to Instrument Manger, located USDJPY and clicked on Edit button. Browsed thru the Exchange list and noticed that Default was selected. Changed to IBIdeal. Clicked on OK. Removed, then added USDJPY to default instrument list. Tried to load a 1-minute chart of $USDJPY. Still no data for chart and stil no bid/ask in the Orders tab. Checked log file and found the following message: Error validating request:-'vb': cause -The symbol or the local-symbol must be entered ServerValidateError.

So what am I missing? I know that IB uses strange symbols internally. In the Instrument Editor, I looked at the Misc tab and noticed that the symbol map for IB is blank.

Please make sure you are on the latest release 6.5.1000.4 and that you have followed the Forex steps outlined in this link.

I did/checked all of that and still no data for USDJPY.

Try Tools->Options->Misc->Reset instruments and restart NT.

That last suggestion allowed me to see the bid/ask in the Orders tab and start building a RT chart. However I am unable to get 1-minute historical data for USDJPY.

Sorry, would not know what causes this. I just tried and get historical 1-min data after resetting instrument as per below.
