Disabling Live Data from IB TWS

Dear NT,

I am already subscribed to IQ Feed so I would like to configure the API connection to IB TWS such that it is used for order execution only. It should not be downloading market data from IB TWS even when connection to IQ Feed fails. Is there a way for me to do this?

Thank you for your post,

The connection order is what controls where the market data will come from and only fall to the second connection if the first connection fails a data request by instrument type on the first connection. Because E Signal and IB offer the same market data types in NinjaTrader, you'll need to connect to to Esignal first and then IB for the market data to come from E-Signal. See the below section of our help guide for more on managing multiple connections.

Esignal will need to be connected within NinjaTrader for the market data to be received, if the connection fails you will not get market data from Esignal. There is not a method to disable real-time data from the second connection in this scenario, though you can disable the historical data in the Account Connection (Tools > Account Connections > Select the IB connection > Change > Next, select Disabled and press Next and finish to disable the historical data).

As a note, our beta product NinjaTrader 8 does allow for disabling of real-time data on connections. see below for more information.
