Windows 10 automatic reboots

I searched the forum, but couldn't find the answer after a few minutes so if this has already be covered my apologies.

How can you prevent Windows 10 from rebooting automatically after updates?

You can't anymore, unless you have Windows 10 Pro. If you have Pro, you have to jump through a few hoops but it's possible. Check out this forum... It tells you how to make the changes you need in the Group Policy Editor, which I must admit I had never heard of until Microsoft made this change. I enabled two of these - "Configure Automatic Updates" (3-Auto download and notify for install) and "No auto-restart with logged on users for scheduled automatic updates installations." Thanks traderpards. I have Pro so I will follow directions on the link.

Alan, You used to be able to schedule your own updates times, but now with a recent Win10 update that setting no longer available.

It is beyond belief Windows restarts without your consent. I guess they don't want mission critical systems to stay running.

haha I just finished up a market replay and it's warning me it will reboot in 10 minutes.

I just happened to check my laptop which had it's display dimmed.

You may wish to turn off windows automatic updates, and manually install them when convenient for you to restart. Note you’d there could be security issues doing this but I wanted to suggest the option.

You could do a internet search for, “Turn off windows automatic updates Windows 10” for instructions.
