    Using 3rd Party Indicators

    Hello all,
    In my Documents/Ninja Trader 7/ bin/Custom I have my new Indicator .cs files.
    When I'm trying File/Utilities/Import Ninja Script, i'm getting this:
    'You have custom Ninja Script files on your PC that have programming errors...'
    My vendor clames that this new Indicator worked when he checked it.
    What should I do to resolve the issue?

    Thank you for your post.

    Please follow the instructions below to see where the errors are coming from after compiling the indicator. This will allow you to debug the indicator/strategy or remove it from your PC. If you are wondering why you receive an error when compiling only one indicator, it is because NinjaTrader always compiles all indicators and strategies - not just one. This is done to give you the highest runtime performance possible.
    • Open NinjaTrader
    • From the Control Center select the Tools menu--> select the Edit NinjaScript menu item--> select Indicator
    • Select ANY indicator and double click on it (we need only to open and compile one script to see all compile errors for all files).
    • A new window will appear and you will need to right click in the window and select Compile to compile the indicators.
    • At the bottom of the window a new section will appear where you can find the error locations.

    From there you have the option to comment out offending code sections, remove the complete indicator or debug it to be able to compile again.
    If you are unsure as to what the error is indicating, please send me a screenshot of the NinjaScript File column and Error column fully visible (not to be confused with the Code column)

    To send a screenshot with Windows 7 or newer I would recommend using Window's Snipping Tool.

    Alternatively to send a screenshot press Alt + PRINT SCREEN to take a screen shot of the selected window. Then go to Start--> Accessories--> Paint, and press CTRL + V to paste the image. Lastly, save as a jpeg file and send the file as an attachment.

      Thak you for reply.
      I would be glad to get rid off what has errors but not sure how. Here is the screenshot.

      Just let you know I've reinstalled NT today earlier, without any change.

        Hello 2014Michael,

        Thank you for your response.

        Please right click in the NinjaScript Editor > select References > select Add > in the Windows Explorer that appears, select the file reference in the error > Open > OK > right click > Compile.

        Now I can't see the full message so I don't know the name of the file, but it is at the end of 'C:\Users\DELL\Documents\NinjaTrader 7\bin\Custom' in the message.

          Hello Patrick H.
          Since our last conversation I've reinstalled NJ, successfully this time. Means no problem now. But I have this too files in my E-mail:

          EMADiffRatioV2.zip (3885bytes)
          EMADiffRatioV2.png (33718bytes)

          which my vendor sent me. They supposed to contain this new Indicatior's code. Can you please guid me through appropiate Import/Installation of this, so I woun't have a problem this time?
          Would be a great help.

            I'd like to add this. After I imported the Indicator from the vendor, I've put it in one of my strategies to see how it works in a real time. But it did not compile the strategy with the new indicator, and didn't show were the mistakes are and didn't deleted, and I ended up with reinstalling all NT.
            Now, can you tell me, if the new indicator was imported into the NT, it supposed to be included into strategies without a problem, or something else supposed to be done an addition to regular import?

              Thank you for your response.

              There should be no additional steps other than the Import through File > Utilities. I would recommend contacting the vendor of the package you imported for further assistance.

                Good morning Patrick,
                Thank you for reply.
                I've contacted the vendor, he sent me second version of Indicator, wich I've imported and included into strategy with no problem at this time!

                Seems like no need for further assistance at this time.
                Appreciate your help.
