    Market Analyzer Trend, Color Conditions

    Hello,

I'm trying to have a Market Analyzer window that will display different background colors based on an upward angling 50 period Moving Average (green for up, red for down), etc.

I don't think the settings I'm using are working.

    Screenshot attached.

Does a value of 1 mean 'up' and a value of -1 mean 'down'?

If not, how do I get those values for use in a Market Anazlyer window?

    Hello i2w8am9ii2,

Unfortunately you can only use numeric values for the cell conditions. A value of 1 means that if the SMA(50) is greater than a value of 1, then the cell color is changed as per the color you have selected. You cannot select "upward" or "downward" as a value.

      Thanks for the info, Jason,

I have been trying to add a 50 period Moving Average to the Market Analyzer window.

I would like it to have a green column background if the trend is up (50 MA angling above horizontal) and to have the column background turn to red if the 50 period Moving Average is angling down.

In prior versions of Ninjatrader, there used to be a Color Conditions area which would easily allow that to be done; but now that has been replaced with Cell Conditions and Filter Conditions.

In prior versions of Ninjatrader, in the Color Conditions area, there used to be a 'Change color if value equals 1' or ... 'Change color if value equals -1'

That has now been replaced with 'Change cell if value is greater than 1' and 'Change cell if value is less than 1'

So I'm wondering... Why was something that was so helpful, removed and replaced with something that to (I assume) many traders, is basically useless?

You can still select "equals" as Condition for cell conditions.

          Hi Jason,

Thanks for your reply and for the info.

So if I understand correctly, are you saying that if I want the background cell color to change to red when the 50 period Moving Average turns down (below perfectly horizontal), then I would put the value of '-1' in Cell Conditions > "Change cell if value equals", is that correct?

And to make the background cell color to change to green when the 50 period Moving Average turns up (above perfectly horizontal), then I would put the value of '1' in Cell Conditions > "Change cell if value equals", is that correct?

No, this will change the cell color to red when the SMA equals to a value of -1 and green when the SMA equals to 1. Unfortunately you cannot specify "turns up/down" in the condition.

Too bad. The Color Conditions feature used to be able to do that.

But for some reason it was removed during new versions of Ninjatrader.

              That's a shame.

Thanks for you reply and for the info,

I do not recall color conditions to have such options. Could it be you were using a 3rd party add-on?

                  Hi Jason,

                  No, there was no add-on.

I saw the process explained in an instructional video.

                      Hello bogelwin,

Can you please clarify what "this" refers to. If you refer to "turns up/down", unfortunately this is not supported when setting up conditions in the Market Analyzer.
