Close and Protective Stop Target filled at the same time

Hello,
I was using the Dom to trade, and as price pulled back towards my Stop I pressed Close. My Stop target was hit at the same time, and so the Stop Target closed my position, but another Close position was also filled, leaving me with an open position as if I had reversed. Is there a way of stopping this behaviour?

When pressing the Close button while in an active ATM Strategy, NinjaTrader will cancel working orders and submit an order opposing your position to bring you flat. The process is outlined in the below help guide article.

Based on what you're describing, you may be pressing the Close button when the orders are in a pending state -- when these orders would finish processing, you would be brought flat, but because the Close button is pressed when the orders are pending, NinjaTrader's Close button sees you're still in a position so it still submits the opposing order.

At which point, your position is flat because the orders finished processing, then the Close order come in and creates a new position. See the below help guide article for more on this, "In Flight Executions."

Going forward, make sure your orders are not in a Pending when you press the close button and you should not run into these issues anymore. I've copied the below section of our help guide for more on Order States.
