How many IB accounts can I trade with NT DLL interface at the same time?

How many IB accounts can I trade with NT DLL interface at the same time? Is there a limit?

It seems there is a relatively long delay (i.e., 1 ~ 4 seconds) when first time sending orders to IB through NT DLL. After that, the delay becomes very small. What is the reason causing it? Right now, I have to send an artificial limit order far away from the current price then cancel it so as to get normal delay in real trading.

There is no such limit imposed by NT.

On the delay:
a) how much RAM do you have in your machine?
b) how much RAM is available as NT is running?

Totally there is 1GB physical memory. Available is 115MB and system cache is 150MB. I just tested the delay. The first order takes about three seconds to get through, then the delay decreases to negligible.

Adding more RAM or placing an order on Sim101 first could make a difference

How do you connect to more than one IB account at one time?

When i connected to one, the connect link is no longer clickable.

Hi,

You need to create account connections for every IB account you want to connect to.

Please follow the instructions from here to create your account connections:

If you set up your second account connection, you need to change the Socket Port to '4000'. Use Socket Port '7496' for your first account connection.

In addition make sure you have a TWS installed for every account. So in this case you need to have 2 instances of TWS installed.

Yes, 2 instances of TWS installed however you would be unable to use them simultaneously as only one instance of TWS may be running at a time.

So can the NT connect to two instances of IB's TWS at the same time if im able to run 2 instances of TWS?

Because when I connected to TWS, no more connection option in NT, also Im able to run 2 instances of IB's TWS for my different accounts.

For clarificaiton, although technically possibly to connect to multiple instances of TWS on a single PC, this is not supported by us.

Hi,

I run to instances of TWS on one pc. Both TWSs are driven by one instance of NT. It works without a problem.

I also notice a delay of a few seconds on each first trade after starting NT. The rest of the trades are sent immediately. It could be a TWS / api problem because I see the trade 'hanging' in TWS for a few seconds before being executed.

To clarify: you see the first trade in TWS "right" as NT sends it. There it would be hanging for a few secs until it makes it to IB's servers. If that is the case, then please consult IB support, since this is an IB internal issue.

It seems the delay is on ninja trader when submitting, it wont reach TWS on first try until a little delay, after the first delay, all entry/exit after first time, everything is very fast.
