Trailing stops, PT´s and computer restart

What happens when you are using a trailing a stop loss with profit target and you close down your PC? Open restarting your PC and NT will the trailing strategy pick up the new market data and readjust the new stop and replace the profit target?

    Hi,

In this case your stop would stay where it is at according to when NinjaTrader was shut down, as with the trailing stop NinjaTrader sends messages to your broker to adjust the stop. In case of a major swing your order would be stopped out at the stop where NinjaTrader shutdown. In the event that you restart NinjaTrader we advise the customer to contact their broker to manage the position when NinjaTrader is shut down unexpectedly.

It depends where your orders are residing.

if i understand correctly, with zenfire/mb a trailing stop would only work if the pc is on, and for ib it would work if the computer is in stanby mode, am i correct here?

thanx, but let me make sure here....if i have an atm strategy to trail my trade...then that is different that just an oco order with just a sl and tp.... so even with ib, an atm strategy to trail my trade would only work if the pc was on, right?

You should be able to disconnect/reconnect and then the ATM should still be active.

You can test this in Sim mode if you like.
