Grouping trades in performance summary

Hi,

When backtesting a strategy with one entry and multiple scale outs, NT7 is counting every exit as a separate trade which renders the win rate quite useless when evaluating an exit strategy.
Is it possible to group trades by entry so that the trade is evaluated based on all combined scale outs?

It is not possible to group separate trades together by entry. We actually recommend using separate entries when you want to scale in/out of a position.

I actually tried using separate entries for each of the scale outs, but the results are the same. A high number of trades in the summary report, and a win rate that is not reflective of the true performance of the system. If one exits half a position at a certain (say extended) target and gets stopped out on the second half, NT is considering this as a 50% win rate while in reality it's a winning trade. And vice versa, it can be a losing trade if one takes a quick exit on the first half and gets stopped out on the rest.

PS: Can you please clarify why exactly you recommend using separate entries for scaling out?

I do not have a solution for the win rate calculation other than doing that math yourself. That value is always going to be tied to individual trades.

Separate entries are recommended because of the limitations of the Managed Approach. With the Managed Approach you can only attach one entry to one exit and this addresses that limitation directly.
