Market Replay Data - What symbols does NT recommend to test strats with?

Hi. I need to get decent data to test my strategies with. I want to make sure that it is what NT uses internally to test with so that if I have issues, NT Support has the same symbols.

I would like to make sure that I can download tick, bid and ask info so from NT's servers so that I can test ideally a year of data.

I'd like some guidance as to what symbols NT Support recommends to use please. Ideally I would use a LONG and a SHORT ETF - (like SPXL and SPXS) but NT doesn't carry those.

Please advise which 2 symbols I should use.

    Thanks

    Hello,

    Thanks for your post.

For market replay data, Ninjatrader records most Futures and Forex instruments. In terms of popularity: ES, CL, GC, NQ, YM.

Hi do you have any inverse ETFs or instruments?

IE: The bull ETF is SPXL and the bear ETF is SPXS... I prefer to go LONG on these rather than shorting securities.

      Please advise.

Hi sorry I should have been more specific. Do you have any STOCKs ?

Also, how do you ADD an exchange to NT8 - I need to add NYSE and the full list of securities under that exchange and I don't see where I do that.

          THanks

            Hello,

            Thanks for your reply.

Ninjatrader does not record stocks, we record most futures and forex instruments.

You can record any instrument on your Ninjatrader for replay, however this would only be going forward.

To add a list of NYSE stocks, you would need to create a text list of each stock to add. Please see the helpguide here on the process to import a list: http://ninjatrader.com/support/helpG...stock_symb.htm

How do I get the last year of ES contracts? What do I enter in the instrument manager and will all the individual quarterly contracts merge into 1 ES chart ? Is there instruction somewhere on how to do that?

              Thanks

                Hello,

                Thanks for your reply.

Please see the helpguide: http://ninjatrader.com/support/helpG...connection.htm , in the case of downloading please see "setup" then review the last section, "How to download playback data from the NinjaTrader server"

Here is the link on using the play connection: http://ninjatrader.com/support/helpG.../?playback.htm

In an instrument list, (typically futures) you would add the previous contracts of the ES so that when you download, you can download the data associated with that instrument. Here is the helpguide reference to working with instrument lists. http://ninjatrader.com/support/helpG...ment_lists.htm
