Instrument type, Forex, Futures, Equities etc...

Is there any way to determine the instrument type, ie. Forex, Futures, Equities etc?

Only thing I see in the documentation is to look at the MasterInstrument.Exchanges.
When testing this I get "Default" for currencies, and "Nymex" for futures through Continuum (well for CL anyway). Any better way?

    Thanks.
