No Trade Zone

When the market goes sideways, as shown in attached picture, I'd like to make it a no trade zone in a strategy. What would be the best way to accomplish/program this?

Hello Chelsea,

You can see in the square I placed on the picture that the market is sideways at this time however it is still causing the MacD to cross over in a sideways market which isn't good. Trying to figure out a way to stop trading when it get's sideways.

Thought someone might have a quick "here is what you need to do" answer.

I would say the highs and lows stay pretty much the same for X amount of time.

Programming rules are exact.

Are you wanting a condition that looks for the high and low of 10 bars in a row to be exactly the same?

Are you wanting the high of the previous 10 bars in a row to not be greater than the current bars high plus 3 ticks and the low of the previous 10 bars in a row to not be less than the current bars low minus 3 ticks?

What are the exact rules you are looking for?
