NinjaTrader
importing charts/indicators from NT7 to NT*

Welcome to the forums!
Neither of these can be transferred directly.
That is, you'll have to rebuild all charts using the NT8 way of
doing things -- prior NT7 workspaces and chart templates are
not compatible with NT8 -- so all of these will have to be rebuilt
from scratch.
As far as NT7 indicators, they, too, are not compatible with NT8.
For every NT7 indicator that you wish to use in NT8, you will have
to track down (or recreate) the NT8 equivalent.
If you are a programmer, you can port your older NT7 indicators
to NT8 by making the changes yourself.
NT8 NinjaScript is much different than NT7 -- many code breaking
changes in NinjaScript mean absolutely all NT7 indicators and
strategies will need changes to work properly in NT8.
That's right, no NT7 indicator, not a single one, no matter how simple,
no matter who wrote it, none of them can work in NT8 as-is. All of them
will require some editing to make then work in NT8.
Do not try to import an NT7 indicator into NT8. It. Will. Fail.

I can help you.
I sent you a private message.
(Scroll to the top and look for the 'Messages' tab towards the right)
For the benefit of myself and others who might like to help, answers
to these questions below would be extremely helpful,
1. Can you describe what kinds of conversions you're needing?
(I mean, is it just indicators?)
2. How many indicators do you need converted?
3. Did you write these NT7 indicators yourself or download them
from another website?
Note that you may be able to find ready-made NT8 replacements
for your existing NT7 indicators by looking here.

I have a Ninjatrader 7 indicator that I'd like updated for Ninjatrader 8. It's called Swingarm. I asked the the person who created it if he has one for NJ8 and he is looking. He has it on his website in a TXT file. Can you help me with this?Attached Files

Hello brownbrenda,
Welcome to the NinjaTrader forums!
It's generally recommended to obtain an importable NT8 NinjaScript export .zip file, and not recommended to manually place files in the filesystem as this could lead to compile errors.
That said, if you want to try anyway, you could try renaming the file extension to a .cs file, and then place the file in Documents\NinjaTrader 8\bin\custom\Indicators.
Then open a new NinjaScript Editor window, right-click within the code area and select Compile.Chelsea B.NinjaTrader Customer Service
