PriceMarker as DrawingTool

Hello sidlercom80,
Thank you for your post.
You could take a look at the pivots indicator, which uses custom plotting in OnRender as well and adds plots for the Price Markers as well. Essentially this is the only way to get the Price Markers in NinjaScript. That being said, I've added a vote for you to an existing feature request for a PriceMarker drawing tool. This request is being tracked under the number SFT-1228.
As with all feature requests, interest is tracked before implementation is considered, so we cannot offer an ETA or promise of fulfillment. If implemented, it will be noted in the Release Notes page of the Help Guide.

Please let us know if we may be of further assistance to you.
Please let me know if you have any questions.Kate W.NinjaTrader Customer Service

Hi Kate, I can't use Series because I want to use dynamically created objects, e.g. lines generated by runtime. Thank you for adding!
You said there is an existing feature request. I can't find anything under that number (SFT-1228). Can you tell me the link where this was created, thanks?Last edited by sidlercom80; 07-18-2022, 11:08 AM.

Hi Kate, thank you for your effort! The original thread started on 15.11.2016. That is only 6 YEARS ago. When this is implemented, I will be 150 years old

sidlercom80 The example provided in that thread by NinjaTrader_PatrickH (this file: https://ninjatrader.com/support/foru...etch?id=886414) allows specifying any value you like at runtime. The Series is purely a vehicle for the values -- you can override, as per that example. Does that work for you?
Thanks.

jeronymite , as I already wrote in post #3, I can't use series because I don't know how many objects I need. There will be objects added at runtime, so your suggestion unfortunately not a solution, thanks anyway.

sidlercom80 There's nearly always a way. Try the attached. You'll need to set the Panel to "Same as input series". It's still using Series, but "under the covers". It has the overhead of the maximum number of lines you want always being there, even if not visible, but you can set the values of the lines to whatever you want, and show/hide the lines whenever you want. See if that helps.
Thanks.Attached FilesLast edited by jeronymite; 07-19-2022, 03:50 AM.

jeronymite yes I will probably have to do this as you described until sometime maybe NT implements a drawingtool marker. Thanks for your explanation, I really appreciate it!

jeronymite unfortunately, your suggestion doesn't work either, because I only need the marker without the line. If I set the line to transparent, the marker also becomes transparent.

Understood, sidlercom80 . You'll see here that what you want is exactly what I requested "some significant time ago".
Thanks.

sidlercom80 Well, the word "impossible" often means "not yet known or discovered" ... so in that spirit, try this "variation on a theme".
Thanks.

jeronymite this looks interesting! I will gladly take a closer look, thank you.
This method is certainly not very efficient with many plots, do you have experience with many plots (100 and more) ?Last edited by sidlercom80; 07-20-2022, 07:12 AM.

sidlercom80 Lack of efficiency in this approach is inevitable, as mentioned for the prior iteration using lines. To avoid that, I expect one really needs to implement a Drawing Tool or some such. But for relatively small numbers of maximum markers, it would work "acceptably well", if not as well as one would want of a native capability in the platform.
Thanks.
