    Automatic data download

I am selling an indicator and 95% of the support time is spend on bad data.
Is it possible from code to download ( update ) automatically data from their data provider. Manually we have to go to tools historical data load select instrument and click download.

    Thank you

    Hello blar58,

    Thank you for the post.

I wanted to check, is this happening with a specific user? Generally, if you are connected to the data provider, you should receive the data that is pushed by the provider. Is this client seeing that they are not able to stay connected or receive data from the provider for some reason?

There I wouldn't necessarily have a suggestion to reload the data programmatically, however, it would likely be beneficial to try and trace the reason the reload is required to see if that can be prevented. A quicker reload may be to instead use the F5 button from the chart, are you seeing that this is not reloading data or was this just not tried?

I look forward to being of further assistance.

It happens form time to time with different users. I know that F5 is a quick fix but I was just wondering if there was a better way to do this.

        Hello blar58,

        Thank you for your reply.

Yes, there is nothing supported for actively reloading as the user would, for connection losses specifically there is a sample which allows some handling for that situation, but as noted this is not for use in other cases.

Critical: This method should NOT be called from any of the event methods which access data or any of the OnStateChange() states
If this is happening from time to time with different users, it would be helpful if you collected some information from each user at the time of the problem to see if we can identify a common factor like a connection loss. I would suggest gathering the log and trace file for each user this happens to along with the date and time it happened. If you have two or more files we could compare them to see if there is something common. That would likely be the best way to proceed so that we can try to understand the problem fully before trying to patch in a solution. If you follow this step, please email our platform support [at] ninjatrader.com with the files instead of posting them and also include a link to this post.

I look forward to being of further assistance.
