    Problem importing zip file

    Hello,

I have a problem with one of my customer.
Everytime I am upgrading a protected indicator he has a problem importing the zip file stating that the zip file is an older version of NinjaTrader which is wrong.

He asked you for help and here is your response :

Can you please close NinjaTrader then open the zip file then provider->run the .exe file found in the folder then once completed open NinjaTrader.

Please let me know if the issue persists after this procedure.
    Sincerely,
    Chris J

    It fix the problem everytime.

Could you tell me why he has to do that. What is problem ?

    Thank you

    Hello blar58,

    Thank you for your post.

Indicators that have custom installers (.exe files) would need to be unzipped and the .exe file run in order to install the indicator. If you package the indicator as protected .dll files, the indicator could then be imported through the Import NinjaScript option. Since yours is packaged as a custom installer, it needs to be updated by first uninstalling the old indicator, then unzipping and running the .exe file.

Please let us know if we may be of further assistance to you.

      OK
      Thank you Kate.

The custom installer just put the zip file into the desktop.
Probably the customer tried to import the installer file ?
He is the only one having this problem and I use the same installation process for all customers.
They download the installer the double clicking on the installer the zip file is put on their desktop. From there they import the zip file from NinjaTrader.

        Hello blar58,

        Thank you for your reply.

I agree that's the most likely case, probably just some confusion about the exe vs the .zip file.

Please let us know if we may be of further assistance to you.
