    Crypto trading support

    Hi,
    will you support crypto exchanges in NT8 platform? An API would be nice, since most of them support it. Their trading platforms are really poor for traders and you can definitely get a large community of pro retail traders willing to have more control.
    I noticed a reply that NT8 supports GDAX, but can't test it in the free version, since its R13.

    Hello Martin,

    Yes, CryptoCurrency type instruments are beginning support in NinjaTrader 8 as of 8.0.14.0.

    Below is a link to a forum thread where Ray has provided a few details.


    Currently, NinjaTrader fully supports charting and trading the BTC and XBT futures on the CME exchange.

    NinjaTrader does have an API. Support for the API is very limited. This can be used to push / pull data to/from NinjaTrader for any supported instrument type.
    Below is a link to a forum post with details about the API.


    The GDAX connection type and Instruments on the GDAX such as BTCUSD can be loaded while using the Simulation License. Support for these instruments is currently limited to real-time and historical minute and day data. This currently does not support live trading.

      Hi Chelsea,
      Regarding the GDAX data feed.

      When I try to load BTCUSD, i get an error.
      "An error was received: 'Failed to subscribe:' 'Invalid product ID provided'
      Then
      "An error was received: 'Failed to unsubscribe:' 'Invalid product ID provided'


      Do you have any suggestions?

        Hello Rastus,

        Ensure you have updated to the latest version (8.0.14.2).

        Then update instruments:
        • Click Tools -> Database Management
        • In the Update instruments section check 'Remove user added instruments'
        • Also in the Update instruments section click the Update button
        • Restart NinjaTrader, connect to GDAX, load the chart, right-click the chart, select Reload All Historical Data.


        If the chart is still unable to load, please send an email to platformsupport [at] ninjatrader [dot] com so that we may further assist.
