    Hard stop loss

    Hi,

As many beginning traders emotions are a big obstacle.
My biggest issue is that I move my stop loss in my disadvantage. I always work with a 180 USD stop but when emotions kick in that risk can easily double or triple.

I was wondering if there is a way to code a hard stop, meaning you can't move the stop below your max loss level. I know its not inside NT, but can something like this be developed?
Apart from developing this, I think it would be a great tool to help all beginning traders.

    Hope someone can help.

    Hello Gianni,

    Thanks for your post.

No, NinjaTrader does not have a method for programming an unmoveable stop loss.

It would be up to you to not manually move the stop loss once it is placed by the NinjaScript strategy. NinjaScript strategies are intended to run without manual intervention.

Note that if you use Set methods in a strategy, such as SetStopLoss, the order can be manually moved. However, it will revert back to its originally submitted price level at the close of the bar if the price is not reached.

See this help guide page for information about SetStopLoss and sample code: https://ninjatrader.com/support/help...etstoploss.htm

Let me know if I may assist further.
